Message from our President TJ Lowery

Dear Members, Community Partners, Sponsors, and Friends,
It is my honor and pleasure to serve as the inaugural President of The Black HR Society. Leading this Board of Directors is a privilege and a gift as our combined experience yields over 40 years of HR knowledge and expertise. The Black HR Society is a 501 (c)(3) non-profit organization that was created for Black Human Resources professionals to have a safe space to openly share experiences, resources, and what it means to be Black in the workplace.
Our mission aims to make a meaningful difference in the careers of Black HR professionals through targeted networking, shared business resources, best practices, educational resources, and development. My goal is to continue to strengthen the organization by building brand awareness that will result in strong partnerships and sponsors. This growth will allow us to use our resources to support the needs of our members to ensure they are becoming rightfully employed. Whether you are an experienced novice or an aspiring HR professional, we have a place for you and I encourage you to become an active member and take advantage of all of the benefits and events we have to offer.
I welcome you to contact me directly if I may be of assistance to you at any time.
Yours in Service,
TJ Lowery
Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion Statement
At The Black HR Society (BHRS), we believe that diversity is more than a commitment—it is the foundation of excellence, innovation, and progress. Our mission is to create a space where Black HR professionals are empowered, uplifted, and positioned for success while championing inclusivity across all workplaces.
We are dedicated to fostering a community that values equity, representation, and belonging. We advocate for fair and just workplaces, ensuring that HR professionals of all backgrounds have access to the resources, networks, and opportunities needed to thrive. Through education, collaboration, and leadership, we strive to break down barriers and build pathways for a more inclusive and diverse workforce.
BHRS stands firm in our belief that diversity is not just about presence—it’s about impact. By cultivating a space where Black HR leaders can authentically show up, share knowledge, and influence change, we are shaping the future of HR to be truly reflective of the world we serve.
Together, we build stronger workplaces. Together, we lead with purpose. Together, we create lasting change.
Donations
The Black HR Society (BHRS) is a non-profit organization founded in January 2022 with a mission to strengthen and sustain the careers of Black Human Resources professionals, while also caring for the unique personal and mental health challenges they face in the workplace.
HR professionals carry the weight of advocating for employees, often standing in the gap between doing what’s right and the demands of key stakeholders. The truth is, HR doesn’t always “win.” This reality creates high stress, emotional fatigue, and sometimes isolation for those who remain relentless in ensuring employees are heard, supported, and treated fairly. BHRS provides HR professionals with the community, tools, and resources they need to manage those struggles, protect their well-being, and continue their critical advocacy.
By strengthening HR professionals, we also strengthen the broader workforce. In turn, BHRS brings these professionals forward to support the career advancement needs of marginalized communities. When HR thrives, employees thrive, making BHRS a win for all professionals, not just HR.

- Expand mentorship, wellness, and community engagement programs to support more HR professionals and the people they serve.
- Advocate for equitable HR practices while equipping professionals with tools to manage workplace stress.
